About the Book: Astrology is regarded as both a
science and an art, and therefore its true depth can be appreciated only by
those with the aptitude and dedication to understand it. As Visnugupta aptly
observed, only a sage can truly master the vast and profound science of
astrology. Likewise, the renowned astrologer Varahamihira stated that no evil
can enter a place blessed by the presence of a genuine astrologer. He further
affirmed that one who studies and interprets the course of destiny through
astrology attains spiritual merit and ultimately resides in the realm of
Brahman.
This book highlights not only the
logical foundations of astrology but also the depth of knowledge possessed by
our ancestors regarding the measurable and predictable influences of celestial
bodies on human life. At the same time, it presents astrology from a spiritual
perspective. The reader is guided systematically from the basic concepts—such
as the arrangement of constellations within the zodiac and its division into
twelve signs, along with the hierarchy of planets—to more advanced topics,
including the calculation of the ascendant and houses in a natal chart,
evaluation of planetary strengths and weaknesses, aspects, influences,
afflictions, and interplanetary relationships.
The work further explains how these
factors can be interpreted to understand the favorable and challenging phases
of an individual's life, the likelihood of success and failure, their timing,
and even the soul's entry into and departure from earthly existence according
to the law of karma. The author has endeavored to provide a comprehensive
account of astrological science with the aim of helping readers become
knowledgeable, ethical, and competent astrologers.
Importantly, the book emphasizes that
astrology should not lead a person toward fatalism or the belief that life is
entirely controlled by an unyielding destiny. Instead, it encourages
self-effort, personal responsibility, and constructive action. According to the
author, this ancient wisdom should be practiced not for selfish gain but for
the welfare of others—to guide those in need, alleviate suffering, and
ultimately inspire people to turn their minds toward the Divine.
